기억할만한 지나침 :: 비를 맞으면 생각나는 what's up

대학교 2학년 때부터 졸업할 때까지 광화문 경향신문사 11층에 자주 출몰하였다. 그 당시 청오회라는 연합 동아리 사무실이 그곳에 있었는데 2학년 말에는 청오회 편집부 식구들과 책을 만들기도 했고, 3학년 되어서는 중앙회 임원으로 활동하면서 그곳에 자주 갔었다. 버스를 타고 광화문에 내려서 걸어가도 되는 데 난 항상 지하철 시청역에 내려 덕수궁 돌담길을 따라 이화여고를 지나 걸어다녔다. 덕수궁 돌담길을 따라 걷는 10여 분이 흔치 않은 산책이라 여겨서 그런 모양이다.

비가 오는 날 우연히 덕수궁 돌담길을 걷다가 듣게 된 'what's up'. 우산에 부딪히는 빗소리와 전반부 어쿠스틱 기타의 화음이 정말로 환상적이었다. 물방울이 튀기며 내는 울림과 기타 반주의 맥놀이는 김기덕 씨의 나래이션과 더불어 한동안 가던 길을 멈추게 했다. 그러고 멍하니 5분 동안 노래를 듣게 되었는데 지금도 이 노래를 들으면 그때 생각이 난다.

늦은 밤 친구와 파전에 동동주를 한잔했더니 센치해지는 건 어쩔 수 없구만.
